BSAC Sports Diver ManualTraining
The initial training consists of a series of lectures and practical training sessions in the pool, followed by 5 training dives in various conditions in Open Water.

After successful completion of a theory test and an assessment dive, you are awarded Ocean Diver certification (the equivalent of PADI Open Water diver).

Should you wish to further expand your skills, you can start training to become a Sports Diver, which includes more lectures and Open Water practical exercises. The necessary dives, lectures and open water exercises are run by the club to enable members to reach Advanced Diver grade.

The club also organises other training courses such as the Lifesaver course. Your training will be supervised by nationally qualified instructors of which the club has several Advanced and Club Instructors.

When you start training, you will be put in a group, usually with the same instructor for all your Club Diver training, with people of similar abilities.

We accept under 18s on our training courses if they have a diving parent or guardian as a full diving member of the club. All instructors working with under 18s will have been CRB checked.
