Why BSAC?
If you want to learn to dive, there is no better way in the UK than in a club environment and BSAC 434 has been training new members for over 30 years.

In the Club, no-one is paid to train newcomers - we do it because we enjoy it!

We can only give you an idea of what happens on these pages; the best thing to do is to come and talk to the people who train, and some of the recently qualified members to find out the real facts.

Here is a comment from a current member:

"I saw a TV programme where you could learn to dive in a week. I knew nothing about diving but thought it looked a fun thing to do. I'd never heard of BSAC but my

travel agent suggested that I might like to consider doing the theory with BSAC and then I could enjoy a holiday actually diving every day rather than sitting in a classroom doing theory.

"It seemed a good idea so I booked a try dive and then joined the club. I soon found out that there was more to diving than just jumping in!

"As it turned out I was a slow learner but it didn't matter because being part of a club meant that I could learn at my own pace - my instructor was really patient and no-one was pressurising me to keep up with the rest of the group so I took and passed my assessments when I was ready.

"I am SO glad I decided to join BSAC as I am sure that I would have given up if I had gone on the one week holiday course. And BONUS, I've met loads of really great, friendly, interesting people too."
